By Josh Navarro – KVEO-NewsCenter 23 Reporter Tuesday, March 15, 2011 – 4:50pm BROWNSVILLE- Two men were after cops found about 500 pounds of marijuana inside a house off Avenida Del Sol. According to neighbors there say this kind of stuff normally doesn’t happen in their neighborhood. Police say Jabier Lozano, 39, and Reymundo Blanco,18, were arrested by investigators once they made contact with them and found the narcotics in their home. One lady News Center 23 talked to off camera, told us that this neighborhood is usually quiet and nothing really happens here and knowing that this bust happened next door to her worries her because her kids play on these streets daily and don’t want them to get involved into criminal activity. Rocio Coronado has been living in this neighborhood for 17 years and says she’s known this place to be family oriented. However these arrests now change her perception. “My family is first and their safety of course is first and so i see how this is changing and of course.” Coronado said that many families are moving to the Lower Valley to escape violence and says any illegal activity needs to cease. “There’s still you uh a place were families are coming to leave, there’s many people choosing to move to this area to raise their kids and so these are times in which our authorities need to be true to themselves and to be true to the mission of the city,” said Coronado.
